CTVS stands for Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. It is a specialized surgical field dedicated to the treatment of diseases and injuries of organs within the chest (thorax), including the heart, lungs, esophagus, and the major blood vessels throughout the body.

While cardiologists manage heart health through non-surgical methods and diagnostic procedures, a CTVS surgeon is the specialist brought in when a condition requires invasive or corrective surgery.
