Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology at Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital (JIMSH) is dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care, ranging from routine vision correction to complex vitreoretinal surgeries. By combining clinical excellence with advanced surgical technology, the department ensures that patients receive the highest standard of ocular treatment.

Service Model and Specialized Care
The department follows a dual-phase service model to maximize patient reach and care quality:

General OPD (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Provides primary eye screenings, refraction services, and diagnosis of common conditions like conjunctivitis, dry eye, and early-stage cataracts.

Specialized Afternoon Clinics: These dedicated sessions focus on sub-specialties including:

Glaucoma Clinic: For early detection and management of intraocular pressure.

Squint & Orthoptics: Specialized care for pediatric eye disorders and muscle imbalances.

Cornea & External Disease: Treating infections and degenerative conditions of the corneal surface.

In-Patient Care: A dedicated indoor ward exclusively for eye patients ensures a sterile and focused environment for post-operative recovery and long-term medical management.
