Admission Eligibility & Selection Criter1. Academic Qualifications
Candidates must hold a postgraduate medical degree from an institution approved by the relevant authorities.
- Primary Degrees: MS (Master of Surgery) or DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in General Surgery.
- Equivalent Qualifications: Any other postgraduate degree formally recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
- Training Completion: Candidates must have successfully completed the mandatory internship and postgraduate training as prescribed.
2. Statutory & Registration Requirements
- NMC Recognition: All qualifications must be recognized by the National Medical Commission.
- Professional Registration: Candidates must be actively registered with either a State Medical Council or the National Medical Commission.
3. Entrance Examination
- Mandatory Test: Qualifying the NEET-SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Specialty) is a prerequisite for admission.
- Selection Basis: Admission is strictly governed by the merit rank achieved in the NEET-SS.
4. Admission & Administrative Guidelines
The final admission process follows the regulatory framework of the state:
- Governing Bodies: Admissions are conducted according to the guidelines set by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) and the Government of West Bengal.
- Counselling: Seats are allotted through a formal centralized counselling process.
- Reservations: Prevailing Government norms regarding reservation policies will be strictly applied during the seat allotment.
